Excessive intake of Salt and Sugar lead to diseases like hypertension(BP) and Diabetes and Obesity. It is always good to gradually lessen the quantity of these two items in our food as we grow older.
Rock salt(known as induppu in Tamil) can be used and it never has the ill effects of shooting up the BP like the common salt.
Regarding sugar substitutes, there are many controversies that they are not good for health.
